Workshop in Kyiv
On March 19-20, 2019 the workshop: smart specialization and the entrepreneurial discovery process was held in Kyiv.
Such key issues as the methodology of regional smart specializations identifying and organizing of the entrepreneurial discovery process were discussed within the framework on the workshop, organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine together with the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC). The representatives of the Directorate-General for regional development of the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services (MinRegion) joined the workshop.
The purpose of the workshop was to assist regions in carrying out qualitative and quantitative data analysis and organizing the entrepreneurial discovery process to determine the priorities of smart specialization for the development of regional smart specialization strategies as the components of the Regional development strategy.
About 100 representatives of all Ukrainian regions took part in the event. From Cherkasy Region there were the Deputy Director of the Department of Regional Development Serhii Danylenko, the Director of Cherkasy Regional Development Agency Liubov Ropalo and the Deputy Chief of the Main Department of Statistics in Cherkasy Region Alla Babych.
The JRC has developed the framework for smart specialization for the countries of expansion and neighborhood. The centre managed to transform a complex idea of smart specialization strategy into specific steps which can be followed by the Eastern Partnership countries.
