Online conference with Ministries
On April 23, 2019 the representatives of all regions of Ukraine participated in the online conference on devising regional development strategies projects for the period of 2021-2027. It was organized by the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and the Group of Advisers on the implementation of the state regional policy in Ukraine, the “U-LEAD with Europe” program.
During this conference special emphasis was placed on the strategic environmental assessment (SEA). The issues of what is SEA, who are its developers, which documents SEA is used for, which are the main components and stages of its preparation and the funding of the SEA development were much discussed. Moreover, all the participants had a chance to ask questions concerning the process of SEA development.
A great attention has been also paid to the importance of public discussion of SEA and the consideration of the comments and recommendations presented in the document. The representatives of the Department of Regional Development and the Division of Ecology and Natural Resources of Cherkasy regional state administration, Cherkasy Regional Development Agency and Cherkasy Center of Local Governance Development were present at this conference.
For your reference: the process of devising Cherkasy regional development strategy for the period up to 2027 continues. The important things about this strategic document are the implementation of SMART specialization approaches as well as the wide involvement of the public in this process.
What has already been done:
– socio-economic analysis of the region’s development over the past 5 years – CONDUCTED
– a 79-member working group for the development of the Strategy – CREATED;
– a development of the Strategy Preparation Website (in Ukrainian and English) – COMPLETED.
