The expert group discussed a draft of the updated Cherkasy region development strategy 2021-2027

A meeting of the expert group was held on January 10.

More than 50 people from among Cherkasy Regional Council deputies, scientists, business representatives, public organizations, local self-government and executive authorities, and Cherkasy Regional Development Agency took part in the discussion.

During his welcome speech, Deputy Head of Cherkasy Regional State Administration, Head of the expert group Oleksandr Turchenyak noted that Cherkasy Region Development Strategy 2021-2027 is a reference point for the further social and economic development of the region, ensuring its sustainable recovery and strengthening competitiveness. He noted that updating the Strategy is necessary to adapt the region to the changes dictated by modern realities, including wartime challenges.

During the first block of the meeting, the participants got acquainted with the changes to the State Regional Development Strategy 2021-2027, for the goals and objectives of the updated Cherkasy Region Development Strategy must correspond to the priorities of the State Strategy. Besides, key achievements within the implementation of the current Cherkasy Region Development Strategy were outlined.

During the second block, main trends of the region’s socio-economic development in modern conditions were outlined; also there was a presentation of SWOT-analysis and SWOT-matrix, possible scenarios for the region’s development until 2027, and a draft of strategic, operational goals and objectives included in the draft of the updated Cherkasy Region Development Strategy.

The third block was practical work in groups. The participants actively discussed the draft of the Strategy and submitted their proposals.
