Work on Development strategy has been started
A media briefing “Preparation of the Cherkasy region development strategy up to 2027, taking into account SMART specialization principles” for local mass media and the public took place on January 16, 2019.
The representative of Regional Development Department of Cherkasy regional state administration informed those who were present in this event that work on Cherkasy region development strategy for the period of 2021 – 2027 has already been started. The Strategy will be based on smart specialization principles. This is a new approach, which involves identifying of the specific strategic goals and objectives connected with the development of different types of economic activity with great innovative potential (taking into account the competitive advantages of the region) that can contribute to the transformation of economic sectors into more effective ones. The working party on Strategy development is currently being formed and its main tasks will include discussions and proposals for the content and structure of the Strategy, SWOT analysis as well as defining and selecting of the Strategy operational and strategic goals and objectives. They also work on the creation of the website “Cherkasy region development strategy for the period of 2021-2027”.
Moreover, within the framework of the media briefing the representatives of Cherkasy Regional Development Agency and Cherkasy Center of Local Governance Development covered the issues concerning European practices and local realities of smart specialization (especially they emphasized the necessity of studying European experience in the strategy development but at the same time the importance of finding its own uniqueness in Cherkasy region). The work flow chart of preparation of the new Cherkasy region development strategy was presented there as well. They noted the importance of cooperation between the community, business, science and authorities while working on the Development strategy based on smart specialization principles.
