Workshop on public consulting was held in Kyiv
On August 19, 2019 a workshop on organizing public consultations in the process of Regional Strategies 2021-2027 development was held in Kyiv.
During the whole process of the regional development strategy devising it is important to involve citizens in the discussions and the process of decision-making. The purpose of public consultations is to involve the public in the process of strategic planning of regional development and to fortify people’s confidence in new reforms.
National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) and All-Ukrainian public association “Institute Republic” will support Cherkasy region in the process of public consulting. Cherkasy region is not the only pilot region, the other Ukrainian pilot regions are: Kirovohrad region, Vinnytsia region, Zakarpattia region, Zaporizhzhia region, Zhytomyr region and Kyiv region.
The representatives of Regional Development Directorate of the Ministry of Regional Development, Director General of the Directorate Olena Boiko, experts from the Advisers Group of the U-LEAD with Europe Program, NDI, and the All-Ukrainian public association “Institute Republic” participated in the workshop together with the representatives of pilot regional state administrations.
They discussed the main aim of public consultations, the stakeholders and target audience of this process, possible consultation forms and places for conducting them and how to raise questions during the public consultation.
Later on, the assistance in the process of public consulting will be provided in the regions. In October 2019 the representatives of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) and All-Ukrainian public association “Institute Republic” plan to visit Cherkasy region and to conduct public consultations together. These consultations will cover the issues of the process of devising the State development strategy and the Cherkasy regional development strategy for the period of 2021-2027.
